The En Route CD series comprises a musical journey across the world, and for the second installment we rode the waves from California to Hawaii. ”What is the Hawaiian sound exactly?” we wondered – and were surprised to discover the diversity and richness of the music scene on the Pacific archipelago. Breathtaking stuff.
En Route 2 takes you on a trip directly to the beaches of Hanalei Bay. Never mind the legends – this is about that authentic contemporary Hawaii feeling. Sunny singer/songwriter guitar sounds à la Jack Johnson meet traditional ukulele sounds as well as Reggae and Hip-Hop influences. Also incorporated is a unique brand of Reggae that has evolved on the islands: Jawaiian.
When it comes to artwork we never settle for anything but the best – in this case the multitalented Tyler Warren. The oil paintings of the Californian artist/designer/surfer vividly capture the gorgeous array of colors and lightness of life on the islands.
”On the island, we do it island style”, sings John Cruz on the final track as he charmingly sums things up: Hawaii is truly unique.
Enjoy the island style!
